Graham Potter confirms Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali meeting as Chelsea sack pressure increases

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has insisted he still retains the support of the clubs owners despite not winning a game since mid-January. The Blues take on Leeds United in the Premier League this weekend in search of ending a six-game winless streak in all competitions.

The latest setback for Potter and Chelsea came at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where they were defeated by London rivals Tottenham. Another league outing without a win saw Chelsea remain 10th, 14 points off the Champions League places

Despite the Blues' shocking 2023 form, football.london understands, that for now Potter still has the support of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, but he is aware that could change swiftly.

"There is always that question, absolutely, and you can’t stop the questions," Potter admitted after the Tottenham defeat when asked about the possibility of the owners stance changing. "While results are what they are, I accept it. It’s part of the job. My job isn’t to worry about that too much.

"I understand the question and where it comes from, but I have to try to focus on keeping on helping the team and supporting the players. I really like these players, they’re good lads. They want to do better and want to win. But at the moment we’re suffering and that is my responsibility."

Potter now faces a pivotal week at the Chelsea helm with two perhaps job-defining clashes on the horizon. Saturday's encounter with Leeds is the perfect opportunity for Chelsea to secure a much-needed victory ahead of what can likely be considered their most important game of the season thus far.

Multiple reports indicate these two games could be make or break for Potter, and the 47-year-old gave a brief update on his recent chat with Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

"There is support and I've spoken to them," he revealed in his pre-match Leeds press conference. "But I'm not going to hide behind that. The results haven't been good enough for us and I’m responsible for that.

"When you’re a coach, if the results are good you accept the criticism and noise that comes with it. My job is to stay with the team, stay focused, try to prepare the team as well as I can, and win the game tomorrow.”
