Gorka Marquez caught Gemma Atkinson out after she called herself 'mad' for thinking she could introduce a new, four-legged member to the family. The loved-up couple live in Greater Manchester with their daughter, Mia, and two dogs, Ollie and Norman.
But after a trip the animal sanctuary close to her heart, Gemma appeared to be almost swayed by getting a horse - or should we say a little shetland pony. Over the weekend, the Hits Radio host headed over to Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in Bury where she is the charity's president.
Last year, Gemma showed how she spent a day teaching her daughter about the rescue centre, a place she visited regularly growing up, and how to be 'kind' to animals. But this time she headed over solo to Bleakholt which isn't home to just dogs but also cats, horses, and farm animals.
The 38-year-old shared how she found a load of unused dog toys and treats as she got ready for her kitchen to be pulled out and wasted no time in heading off to donate them to some of the pooches looking for homes. However, it appears Gemma got distracted over at the stables.
Taking to her Instagram story, the former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale actress introduced her thousands of followers to the various horses and ponies when she got to one specifically who appeared to capture her heart. "Oh Jeffrey," she could be heard saying from behind the camera.
She then walked over to his him as he stared to the floor outside of his pen. "You alright, Jeffrey?" Gemma asked before giving him a stroke. "Don't worry pal, the sun will be out soon," Gemma added as she cooed over the quiet and gentle animal.
But it's clear he captured her heart as she said in a video back in her car: "I'm going home because I want to take Jeffrey and I can't. I can't have a horse..." She then added as if to talk to herself: "You can't have a horse you mad t**t. You can't afford it, you've not got the room, you can't even ride. Get it out of your heads."
However, Gemma wasn't entirely convinced by her own words of dissuasion as she added: "Oh he's so lovely though. Imagine coming downstairs and seeing little Jeff. Anyway..." As she arrived back home, she did decide to attempt a prank on Gorka. As she walked through the door she called out 'hello' before adding: "You know I've just been up to Bleakholt? I've bought us a horse."
From another room, Gorka, 32, could be heard responding: "A what?" As his fiance repeated herself while laughing behind the door, he asked: "What do you mean a horse?" But Gemma struggled to keep up the rouse as she broke out laughing as she told him: "A shetland pony... it's only tiny."
"I can't do it," she said as she showed Gorka looked at her confused. But he later caught her out trying to get their three-year-old daughter on board. "Checking with Mia if she wants a horse," he typed alongside the video of them asking Mia if she wants a horse. "I see what you're doing there.... @glouiseatkinson," he added with a string of crying laughing emojis.
