Gordon Ramsay admits he 'took' wife Tana from his friend - as she recalls him being 'arrogant and irritating'

Gordon Ramsay has admitted his wife Tana was initially dating his friend before they got into a relationship.

The TV chef, 59, and his partner, 51, married in December 1996 and have six children - Megan, 27, twins Holly and Jack, 26, Matilda, 24, Oscar, six, and Jesse James, two.

They met in the early nineties, with Gordon revealing he thought Tana was “f*****g gorgeous” and looked like a young Julia Roberts.

Tana was less than impressed, however, confessing that she found the Hell’s Kitchen star “really arrogant” and “irritating”.

Recalling his first impression of his now-wife, Gordon told OK!: “Tana was driving the car and I was sat in the back seat looking at my mate going, "oh my god your girlfriend is f**king gorgeous.

“She looked like a young Julia Roberts and she brought this level of excitement like no other. I'm not sure sure what Tana said when she met me, I got the feeling she wasn't a big fan.”

Tana confirmed: “I thought he was really arrogant, really full of himself. He used to really irritate me.”

The couple ended up single a month later and immediately hit it off.

Tana recalled: “It took about a month and then we were both single. We ended up chatting one night and chatted all night. I must have fancied him.”

Their confession comes after they spoke out on the bitter feud surrounding their daughter Holly, her new husband Adam Peaty and his family.

Influencer Holly, 26, married the Olympic swimmer, 31, in a star-studded ceremony at Bath Abbey on December 27.

The celebrations were overshadowed by reports of a fallout between the groom and his family, with Adam's mother Caroline “banned” from attending the ceremony.

It is believed only Adam’s sister Bethany - who served as a bridesmaid - was at the wedding.

Last week, Gordon and Tana broke their silence on the rift, insisting the situation was “self-inflicted on [the Peatys’] side” and that they had “done nothing wrong”.

“It’s all self-inflicted from their side, because we’ve done nothing — none of what you’ve read: no rudeness, no ignorance — we welcomed them,” he told the Daily Mail.

“We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty. So to get that barrage of press was very hurtful. Tana took it very seriously.”

The TV chef also said he hoped for a resolution.

“I would like to go up to Nottingham with Tana and see them and draw a line in the sand,” he said. “It was Adam and Holly’s wishes for them not to attend and so we had to respect that.”

Reports of a feud among the Peatys first emerged when his mother Caroline did not attend Holly’s star-studded hen do at Soho Farmhouse.

It was then claimed Adam’s parents were uninvited from his and Holly’s big day. His mum, his aunt and several other family members called him out on social media for the apparent move.

Meanwhile, his brother James was arrested in November over allegations he sent threatening messages to his brother during his stag do in Budapest. James was questioned before being released.
