Google To Launch Three Pixel 9 Phones, Including XL Model

Google CEO Sundar Pichai attends AI forum in Washington

Google is set to shake up its smartphone lineup with the upcoming launch of three different Pixel 9 phones, as per a recent leak. The leak suggests that Google will introduce a third XL model alongside the two previously leaked Pixel 9 Pro units. The base Pixel 9 is expected to feature two camera sensors and a 6.03-inch display, with a design that includes rounder edges and a flat display, resembling Apple's iPhone in both appearance and product strategy.

Google's decision to reintroduce the XL moniker for the larger Pixel 9 model indicates a shift in the company's approach, catering to users who prefer a smaller form factor while still desiring the advanced camera capabilities of the Pro models. The leaked information hints at a lineup that includes the Pixel 9 Pro XL, a middle-sized Pro unit, and the base Pixel 9, offering a range of options for consumers with varying preferences.

This potential expansion of Google's smartphone range marks a departure from its previous strategy of releasing one or two flagship models. With the addition of the Pixel 8a and the rumored Pixel Fold 2, Google could potentially launch a total of five Pixel phones this year, showcasing the company's commitment to offering a diverse selection of devices to its customers.

In a recent update, Google's discontinuation of the Pixel 6a and redirection of its webpage to the Pixel 7a landing page suggest that the Pixel 8a is on the horizon. The Pixel 8a is expected to debut at Google I/O in May, featuring new AI functionality such as Circle to Search, a feature that allows users to search images by drawing on them. This enhancement aligns with the trend of integrating advanced AI capabilities into budget-friendly smartphones, following in the footsteps of other tech giants like Samsung.
