Happy Eater had restaurants around the UK in the 1980s, with the Manchester branch based near the A34 making it ideal for visiting on the way home from work and school.
Known for its £2.75 burgers, ice cream floats and fry-ups, Happy Eater became iconic. Its bright yellow branding, creepy-looking red mascot logo and animal-shaped play areas set it apart from other restaurants.
The MEN recently delved into the archives to revisit the A34 Happy Eater, reminding people why it was so loved by families. One of the reasons was its extensive children’s menu, which included Dog's Delight, Little Porkers and Mr Happy's Ice Cream.
