Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid fears 'walk out' after Richard Madeley comment

Richard Madeley teased he was walking out of the Good Morning Britain studio after being compared to a doll, with Susanna Reid later trying to avoid "another walkout".

The presenter, 66, has returned to the ITV morning show this week after a brief absence from it and hosted an episode alongside Susanna, 52, on Tuesday (March 7).

The episode included mention of space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, 54, being honoured with a Barbie doll in her likeness to celebrate her career and achievements.

Ahead of speaking to her about the news, Susanna said that she would like to have her own Barbie doll and similarly Richard expressed interest in having his own Ken doll.

Susanna then teased: "To be fair Richard you do look like the spitting image of Ken". He however jokingly got up from the desk and teased he was walking out over it.

He was heard saying: "Oh get lost. Okay, I'm out of here." He further commented on the comparison: "There's only so much I can ... being likened to a plastic [doll], come on!"

The comparison later came up again, with their colleague Ranvir Singh, 45, teasing over it. She said she had found a photo of Ken and Richard was shown in a split-screen with it.

Ranvir teased: "The traditional Ken, who you know Richard, must be modelled on you." Richard appeared to say it looks nothing like him, before asking: "What are you talking about?"

Susanna stepped in and said: "Don't worry, we don't want to risk another walkout". She explained: "There was a threat of a walkout at the beginning of the programme..."

Ranvir however asserted that it was "a compliment" and Richard was heard laughing in response as the conversation turned away from the topic.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays on ITV and ITVX from 6am. You can catch up on previous episodes through ITVX.
