Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley gobsmacked by Strictly star's dramatic weight loss

Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley was gobsmacked by a Strictly Come Dancing star's weight loss.

The veteran broadcaster fronted today's edition of the ITV news programme alongside Susanna Reid. The two interviewed Hamza Yassin, who is competing on this season of Strictly.

The wildlife cameraman has been partnered with professional Jowita Przystal on the latest series of the BBC contest. The two's vibrant performances have been a hit with fans as they aim to win the Glitterball.

Richard was wowed by Hamza's transformation as he asked if he was looking at an "optical illusion". He added: "You've lost weight, haven't you."

The hosts were taken aback as Hamza revealed he had lost "eight and a half kilos", which is more than one stone. The cameraman provided an insight into the gruelling work that goes into training.

He said: "Nine hours a day we're trying to train. It's hard on the body. The knees and legs are hurting."

Hamza and Jowita are currently preparing a routine themed around natural history as Strictly's next episode is in celebration of 100 years of the BBC. Hamza said: "We are dancing the quickstep to Imagine Dragons' 'On Top of the World' and hopefully it marries the two sides of my love for natural history and Jowita's love for dance."
