Ben Shephard returned to host Good Morning Britain, hours after a painful mishap that happened while he was watching England's victory over Italy.
Long serving GMB anchor and Tipping Point presenter Ben was back on the ITV breakfast show to front its final episode of the week, alongside colleague Kate Garraway. The pair broadcast live to the nation for three hours and it took just moments of camera rolling for Ben to address what had happened to him the night before.
Like many people, keen footballer Ben had a keen interest in how Gareth Southgate's England team would fare in their Euro qualifier against the team that beat them in the final at Wembley in 2021. Thankfully, for Three Lions fans, the natiojal side bounced back from their World Cup heartache against France to win 2-1.
But, while happy with the result, Ben admitted that his viewing of the match had been somewhat hampered, by the fact that he walked into a lamppost as he watched while out for a walk.
Revealing what happened to Kate, he explained: "I'm watching on my phone walking along the road, totally engrossed, and I did a proper Kate Garraway.
"I walked hear first into a lamppost, literally smashed into a lamppost, phone went flying as a bus went past with all these kids going 'Wheyy!"
Fortunately, despite his accident, Ben didn't;'t miss captain Harry Kane's record breaking goal, as he added: "I was absolutely mortified. The only thing was, as I picked up my phone Harry Kane scored his goal so I'm going 'Wheyy!'.
"It was one of those moments, you know those viral TikTok and things of people looking at their phone and falling in the pond? I properly clattered this lamppost."
