Gonçalo Ramos gives answer on Newcastle United question when quizzed on future

Newcastle United target Gonçalo Ramos has been quizzed over his future following a link with Newcastle United.

The 21-year-old Portugal star netted in Benfica's victory over Casa Pia at the weekend and was then asked about his next move with Newcastle credited with a bid for his services last week. United maintained their silence when the reports were put to them but the club are working on more than one deal.

Ramos said: "I'm at Benfica, I'm fine, we're playing well. What matters to me is the Benfica".

Benfica are holding out for top dollar for Ramos and an asking price of £35million has been mooted. Benfica say they have already had a bid from one club but refused to name which one.

When asked on transfers, Eddie Howe said yesterday: “As I’ve said many times, we’re looking. We are aware that there are certain parts of the squad that we’d love to strengthen and give us more options.

“But that’s no reflection of anybody we currently have in our squad because I think we’ve shown that we love everybody within the group. There’s a very good feeling internally, within the dynamic of the team, so we desperately don’t want to harm that either.”
