Stephen Webb and his husband Daniel Lustig were called "f***ing f*****' in a vile homophobic attack as he urged fans to 'stay safe'.
The Gogglebox favourites were enjoying a day out in Brighton when the incident occurred. Stephen shared a photo of a gay pride flag and typed: “Last night Daniel and I were called “f***ing f******” this was on Hove seafront! The fight continues!"
“Be aware be safe! #gay #pride #homophobiastillexists,” he added.
Fans flooded the TV personality's comments with messages of disbelief and support for Stephen and his husband. One penned: "What is wrong with these bigots? A severe case of self loathing. In Brighton of all places! Sorry you had to go through this xx"
Another added: "I’m sorry to hear this. I think we’re in a bit of a bubble in Brighton & Hove so it’s even more shocking to hear it here," while a third said: “That's appalling. Thank God you're who you are and not trapped in the mind and body of the poor soul who thought it appropriate to spew such abhorrent hate on you and your lovely husband.“
"I’m so so sorry that you and Daniel were treated that way!!!! I’m totally speechless that this still happens. Sending you lots of love from Cornwall and can’t wait to see you both soon on your sofa xx," wrote a fourth.
Hairdresser Stephen has been a Gogglebox regular since the show premiered in 2013 and originally appeared alongside Chris Butland-Steed. Since Chris left the show, Stephen's husband Daniel has taken up the mantle.
