Gogglebox's Malone family pay heartfelt tribute to show's late narrator Caroline Aherne

Popular Gogglebox family The Malones have paid a heartfelt tribute to the show's former narrator Caroline Aherne.

Former BAFTA winner Caroline, who won awards for both BBC's The Mrs Merton Show and The Royle Family, where she famously played daughter Denise; was the voice of the Channel 4 programme from its inception in 2013, until her sad death in 2016 from cancer.

Caroline was a much loved member of the Gogglebox family, with her Royle Family on screen husband and co-writer Craig Cash, becoming narrator after her passing, a role he is continuing for the new series, which started last month.

The Malone family are back in the cast for the new run, much to the delight of fans and, after reviewing all manner of shows in the first two episodes from Love is Blind to BBC News and Starstruck to Breaking Dad.

And, ahead of Friday's episode, Julie and Tom Snr took to Instagram to share a post about 'Mancs of the Month,' one of whom was Caroline and the other comedy legend Victoria Wood, who also died in 2016.

One of the family's followers replied: "2 geniuses," with a second writing: "Caroline still is a talent that will continue to make ppl laugh.. RIP...a good family friend."
