The first episode of Gogglebocs Cymru has aired and viewers across Wales were not left disappointed. The S4C programme, voiced by comedian Tudur Owen, started on the channel on Wednesday, November 2 and featured friends and families all over Wales, including Brynamman, Cardiff, Carmarthen, Caernarfon, Denbigh and Llanelli - and even across the border in Bolton.
Gogglebocs Cymru is part of S4C's birthday celebrations, marking 40 years of broadcasting and is based on the popular Channel 4 series, Gogglebox, which enters its 20th series and sees members of the public become armchair critics as they comment on the television shows and films they are watching. The first episode of the Welsh-language series was filled with golden TV moments, great observations and laughs along the way.
The start of the programme saw nature observer Iolo Williams, described as "the Welsh David Attenborough" by one of the cast members, visiting the Isle of Anglesey in his new BBC show Iolo's Anglesey. While visiting Ynys Seiriol (Puffin Island) off Anglesey, Iolo encountered on a group of nesting birds called shags.

The use of the words left Gogglebocs members in stitches, especially good friends Sammy, Bethany and Kelly from the Rhondda Valley, with Kelly telling Bethany: "I could tell from the corner of my eyes that you'd laugh at that."
Meanwhile, Welsh learner Marcus from Bridgend got the chance to recall his most fondest memory as a Wrexham football fan. In a documentary focusing on Wrexham AFC - Wrecsam Clwb Ni - footage showed Marcus running around the pitch with a Welsh flag on his back. He told his friend Vicky: "I attended the game and Wrexham beat Arsenal. And I ran, you know, on the pitch, after the game. I was on Match of the Day and Grandstand and everything. I was running around to the Match of the Day music."
In Nol i'r Gwersyll, which starred presenter Angharad Mair, the cast got the chance to go back in time by looking at what Llangrannog looked like in the '70s - a premise that confused John from Porthmadog. "Anharad Mair is young there," he told his grandson Cian. "Young?" Cian asked.
"In the '70s," John added. "They're not in the '70s now, Taid," Cian told him. "This is now!" But John was adamant, which prompted his grandson to ask: "Are you serious?"
The cast also got a viewing of two highly-anticipated TV dramas - S4C's latest gangster thriller, Dal y Mellt, and BBC One second series of The Pact. Many took to social media to share their thoughts on the first episode of Gogglebocs Cymru.
Many were delighted with the cast, with a few already deciding who were their favourites. On Twitter, Beth Angell tweeted in Welsh: "Well, I enjoyed that... #ihavemyfavourites". Katie Gill-Williams said: "Great Gogglebocs Cymru... it was great to see other learners. I'm watching without subtitles".
Twitter user Jolly said: "Fantastic programme of Gogglebocs Cymru something new and different to broadcast in Welsh, and great to welcome learners of the language... can't wait for the next episode!" Liza Williams said: "Loving Mark & Carwyn on Gogglebocs... Fab entertainment! Love you boys!"
Twitter user Ellis tweeted: "The Taid on Gogglebocs Cymru confused and thinking that he is actually watching clips from Llangrannog in the 70s is exactly what I wanted out of this show." Twitter user John Derek Rees said: "The three brothers is my favourite group so far. And they are from Drefach as well of course!" For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
