God of War Laufey finally has a release date, and the wait is now only a matter of a few months at the time of writing.
The next major chapter in the franchise releases in February 2027. Here’s a breakdown of the exact launch date and countdown.

God of War Laufey will launch on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2027. That date was confirmed in July 2026 after the game’s San Diego Comic-Con panel.

It’s a major PlayStation 5 release of the 2027 calendar, and will be a PS5 exclusive. Going by Santa Monica’s usual midnight local time launch, here’s a countdown timer for you to know how long you need to wait to play the next God of War game:

What we know about God of War Laufey so far
God of War Laufey is developed by Santa Monica Studio and is set in the God of War universe, with Faye in the lead.
The game follows Faye after her funeral, when she wakes up in a strange afterlife known as the Everywhen. It’s a realm where gods and creatures from different mythologies collide. Instead of retelling Kratos’ journey, the game focuses on Faye’s own path as she tries to protect her family from the fallout of choices she made before her death.
The story places Faye in the middle of a dangerous conflict between powerful gods, with the Everywhen becoming a battleground filled with unstable alliances, dangerous magic, and new enemies. She must fight her way through this realm while uncovering how her past plans are being threatened and why the afterlife itself is falling apart.
Deborah Ann Woll returns to voice the role. The game also introduces Phranque, played by Jack Quaid, and Rue, played by Perlina Lau, both of whom join Faye early in her journey through the Everywhen.
According to PlayStation, Phranque is a curious cosmic cube with an earnest personality, while Rue is an enchanted ribbon guardian tied to a powerful sword. The story also keeps Kratos and Atreus relevant to Faye’s mission, since her choices are made to protect her family.
Santa Monica has also confirmed that the game will have a physical disc release.
