Gobsmacked sisters horrified by what they found outside hotel room door

Two sisters found human excrement splattered outside their door during a horror stay in a city centre hotel.

Georgia Cavanagh and her younger sister Savannah were booked in for a night's stay at 30 James Street Hotel on Sunday, February 19. But the siblings' stay was marred by a catalogue of incidents that was capped off by finding human excrement outside the door to their third-floor room.

Georgia said when the siblings notified a cleaner of the mess they were told it was the second instance of excrement found in the hotel's corridors that day. The 21-year-old from Upton told the ECHO: "There was human poo splattered on the wall next to our room.

"There was also a foot print outside the door. We told the cleaner who said that there was poo in another place as well. It had happened twice in the same day.

"The smell was disgusting. I've never experienced that in my life. I was gobsmacked. I was trying to figure out what happened. I'm guessing it might have happened in the night by someone drunk."

Georgia and Savannah, who is in year 7, went to the city centre hotel for "a girly night" after their parents couldn't make the booking. But their stay was tarnished when they were first given the wrong room after waiting 45 minutes - and then their replacement room's heating system didn't work.

During their stay the fire alarm in the hotel also went off twice - at 10pm and again at 8am the following day. Georgia claimed hotel staff told them that both times it was a false alarm.

Georgia also claimed that when she checked out the hotel and told the reception about her disappointment at their stay, the staff "acted like the incident was almost normal". Georgia told the ECHO: "We didn't get any sort of compensation for our stay, even though if they did we wouldn't have taken a free room.

"We would never stay there again after our last experience. We feel like we need another hotel break after that one."

The ECHO approached 30 James Street Hotel for comment but received no response.
