GMB's Richard Arnold surprises fans with Scottish accent, kilt and bagpipes on Burns Night

Good Morning Britain's Richard Arnold surprised viewers today as he donned a kilt and let out his Scottish accent in honour of Burns Night.

Richard, 52, was born in Andover in England before moving up north to Inverurie in Aberdeenshire when he was around 11-years-old and went onto study at University of Edinburgh.

The ITV presenter made a storm on GMB today as he walked on stage to the sound of bagpipes, much to the delight of co-hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls.

The presenting duo even joked about Richard being naked under his kilt as he made a grand entrance to the show to the sound of the bagpipes.

Richard kept Susanna and Ed waiting a moment as they prepared to start his entertainment news section, before he made his entrance from the stage door wearing his kilt.

Ed said: "I think he's feeling somewhat patriotic, it's an important day."

Richard replied: "What do ya think? "I mean a jig is extra Ed so don't get any ideas."

Susanna quizzed Richard about his voice and asked: "Why do you cover that accent up for the entertainment news?"

Richard replied: "Well because I'm so cockney born and bred, but I was also dragged up north of the border in Scotland from the age of 11 in Aberdeen."

Ed said: "Are you actually - I've always wanted to know, are you naked under the skirt?"

Susanna chimed in: "Aren't we all naked under our clothes, Ed?"

As the camera pans behind Richard, zooming in on his kilt he notices saying: "They've gone round the back as well, steady yourself."

Richard continues: "I'd like to think, if you'll have me, that an honorary Scot having lived much of my life up there before I came back down to the smokes.

"I'd like to leave the real deal to Scots."

Susanna adds: "I think you should just leave us guessing."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am-9am.
