Kate Garraway has been awarded MBE by Prince William as her husband Derek Draper proudly watched on.
The Good Morning Britain presenter recieved the impressive accolade at Windsor Castle on Wednesday and looked stunning in an off-white ensemble with a high neckline, long sleeves and a pleated skirt.
Meanwhile, as she received the award, Derek - who's life changed after he contracted Covid-19 in March 2020 – was seen proudly watching the special moment, reports the Mirror.
Kate has documented her husband's heartbreaking health battle after coronavirus left him in hospital for more than a year.
Derek also looked smart for the occasion as he sported a dark blue suit with a light blue shirt and patterned tie and beamed from ear to ear as he sat in a wheelchair whilst watching his wife pick up her MBE.
After being given the accolade, Kate was pictured smiling and curtseying in front of the Prince of Wales.
Kate was made an MBE in the New Years Honours list.
Reacting to the news in January, Kate said: "I actually feel very awkward about it all really, I don't know why, because I'm thrilled to bits and incredibly honoured.
"But you just sort of think, 'What? Me?' And then you think it's not real."
Since her husband's hospitalisation in 2020, the mum-of-two has been transparent about how Covid-19 impacted her family.
The TV star made two touching documentaries – Finding Derek and Caring of Derek – to openly share her family's journey since her husband's hospitalisation and gruelling road to recovery.
Derek continues to be in and out of hospital as he battles complications from the virus.
Kate recently shared an update on Derek earlier this month, revealing he is now able to whisper.
She explained on Loose Women: "It's very much a whisper. I don't think we're necessarily going to have a conversation, but you get fantastic moments. Billy had a new basketball and was bouncing it, and he said 'is that new ball?' He said: 'It's nice'...
"Seeing him able to was amazing. Billy was in tears; they were hugging. It's things like that that really lift you up, and the next day he was really still."
Kate has recently released a new book on her and Derek's journey.
As she announced its upcoming release in September, Kate told her Instagram followers: "I must admit it has been so tough to write but that’s because I have had to go into some of my darkest thoughts and experiences but I also wanted it to be a positive read for you too.
"I have so much to be thankful for and so many people have shared so much love with me and my family, and I really wanted to share something helpful back."
