The UK’s largest self-storage company, Safestore, is urging Glaswegians to donate good quality, unwanted coats to the UK charity Human Appeal’s ‘WrapUp Glasgow’ campaign.
The campaign, which began on October 18 and will run until November 14, was hit with uncertainties due to the pandemic but this year’s campaign will enable the public to safely donate their unwanted coats at various contactless drop-off points across the UK including Safestore Glasgow Southside.
The company is calling on locals to give generously, with members of the public able to donate any unwanted coats during the store opening hours of 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday (till 8pm on a Thursday), or 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

According to Shelter Scotland, in the year April 2020 to March 2021 there were 33,792 homeless applications, and 27,571 households were assessed as homeless.
Safestore will also provide storage space at several of its stores to facilitate the quarantining, sorting, storage and distribution of thousands of coats to over 100 charities, homeless shelters, vulnerable women and children centres, elderly people in need and refugees.
This winter will mark the 10th year of the UK’s largest self-storage company’s support for the WrapUp campaign which began in London and to date has collected over 179,547 coats since the partnership began in 2011.
Ahmed Osman, Human Appeal’s UK Programmes & Fundraising Officer says: “With so many people in need, sadly some of the most vulnerable people will not have the luxury of wearing a coat this winter. Our volunteers are working hard to collect, sort and distribute coats to many who are struggling at this time of harsh weather.
“We would like to say a massive thank you to Safestore who have kindly donated free storage space in many of their centres across the north of the UK to enable Human Appeal to run this campaign in so many locations, and we hope to donate even more coats this winter than ever before.”
Shahid Kadodia, digital & marketing director at Safestore, said: “After a very tough 18 months, we recognise that there will be many people who are in a vulnerable position particularly as the winter season draws near.
"We’re delighted to be helping Human Appeal’s WrapUp Glasgow again this year as they work hard to provide comfort and care to those in need.
"Organisations like this make a real difference in our communities and we are proud to have supported this campaign over the years. Together, we hope to be able to donate even more coats this winter.”
Coats can be donated to Safestore Glasgow Southside, 588 Lawmoor Street, Dixon Blazes, Glasgow, G5 0TY.
