As the Glastonbury festival draws nearer, some festival goers will be wondering whether to pack their ponchos or sun hats ahead of opening day. Based on current Met Office predictions, both seem like a good idea, with high temperatures and heavy downpours on the forecast.
The run up to opening day on Wednesday, June 21 is unsettled, with the forecaster predicting a mixture of rain and sunshine on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures are set to hover in the low 20s early in the week, which will likely make things feel a touch cooler than recently seen.
However, temperatures are expected to rise again ahead of the weekend and the mercury is set to hit 24C at its peak on Saturday. The weather is still set to remain unsettled through the week, with scattered showers - heavy or otherwise - likely while the festival gets under way.

Met Office expert Stephen Dixon said last week that Glastonbury would be "lucky to get away without seeing some rain", though he stressed at the time it was too far away from the event to pin down what the forecast would be. He explained the "summery rain" expected is isolated in nature and is therefore difficult to predict.
For the keen revellers arriving on Wednesday, the forecast suggests a sunny morning, turning to light showers through the early afternoon. Things are set to remain dry overnight, currently, before what is expected to be a dry Thursday, with temperatures reaching 22C.
Friday is set for much the same, though skies are expected to look a little cloudier. Things will clear up into the evening though, and the Met Office expects a dry and clear start to Saturday. This is as far as the forecast stretches at the moment, but we will be bringing you Glastonbury weather updates through the week as we get nearer to the festival.
