Glastonbury fans divided over who was to blame for Lana Del Rey's performance being cut off

People have been left divided over who was in the wrong for Lana Del Rey's Glastonbury set being cut off. The US songstress performed at the UK's biggest music festival over the weekend, but was take off after she went over the allotted time.

Thousands turned up to watch her headline the Other Stage on Saturday (June 24), but many were left frustrated as the 38-year-old was 30 minutes late. The Blue Jeans singer was scheduled to perform at 10.30pm, but didn't arrive until 11pm.

She explained to the crowd that her tardiness was due to her hair taking to long to do. Grovelling to festival-goers as she appeared on stage, she said: "I'm so f*****g late that I am about to rush this set today.

"If they cut power, they cut power. I'm super f*****g sorry, my hair takes so long to do. I love you all. Let's keep on running the set as it's supposed to go."

Before the end of her set, her microphone was cut off by festival workers as she had reached the midnight cut off point. This forced the singer-songwriter to perform her final song Video Games acapella.

The image of the artist on the big screen was then replaced with an advert for the festival's Arcadia stage as Skepta B2B Jammer's performance began. Lana Del Rey went on to mouth an apology to fans before stepping off stage to go down and greet them along the front row.

However, she was swiftly escorted off by security due to Glastonbury having a curfew, and performing past it can get the festival into a spot of bother with the local council. The whole situation has left many fans feeling mixed, with some blaming the singer for spending too long on her hair, while others argued the festival shouldn't have cut her off.

Muse frontman MattBellamy tweeted: "Can’t believe they cut Lana Del Rey sound @glastonbury before finishing set, best Glasto performance I’ve seen for years. Insanity." Pollybirkbeck argued: "But she was late! Big trouble (fines?) if set over runs the allotted curfew."

Muddymudskipper gushed: "Lana Del Rey being late and having to end her set early because she was getting her hair up real big beauty queen style is exactly what I'd expect from her (complimentary)."

Rambunctiousgus stated: "She’s literally LDR… she can be as late as she wants to?! Did you not hear her?? She said it was her hairs fault! Not hers! Stop whining, you weren’t even there lol." Readdork said: "Lana Del Rey, you may have been late, they may have cut you off, but you will go down in legend. 5 stars out of 5. #glastonbury2023."

However, Fatalliety fumed: "Exactly what paying fans want to hear I’m going to rush through my set lmfao." Nonposter10 added: "Disrespectful to loyal fans to turn up late. There's no excuse... especially just hair."

Ash_mcnally90 exclaimed: "Lana Del Rey turning up 30 mins late after having all day to do her hair is pathetic. People paying £400 for tickets and some of the artists couldn't give a f***." Simsyg ranted: "No one gets around the curfew, and using your hair taking too long as an excuse is pathetic."
