Glasgow torrential downpour causes burst pipe with street submerged and residents left without water

A horrendous downpour last night caused havoc on the roads of Glasgow as commuters struggled to travel around the city.

In Bearsden the adverse weather resulted in a pipe on Seafield Avenue bursting and residents in the area being left without water this morning as Scottish Water carry out crucial work.

Video from the scene shows a vast amount of water gushing out from the road and adding to the deluge already visible on the streets.

The southside was also heavily effected by the weather, with a number of roads deemed unusable due to flooding.

Rain also resulted in Scotlands bout against Georgia at Glasgow's Hampden Park being suspended for 90 minutes as they waited out the freak conditions.

This morning Glasgow Subway confirmed that West Street station was closed due to flooding, however, it has since reopened.
