Glasgow takeaway fire sparks emergency response crews race to the scene

Fire crews were called to a blaze on Elmbank Street near Charing Cross this morning, after reports of a building fire.

Officers raced to the 3 in 1xtra takeaway, which was billowing smoke at 8.30am. Three appliances were sent to the scene, along with a height vehicle.

The blaze was extinguished and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) left the area once it was 'made safe'. The exact cause of fire and the time at which crews left the scene was not disclosed.

No injuries were reported, after SFRS reported the incident to Glasgow Live.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 8.30am on Thursday, 28 July to reports of a building fire on Elmbank Street, Glasgow.

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances and a height vehicle to the scene, where a fire was affecting a ground floor shop.

"Crews extinguished the fire and made the area safe.

"There were no reported casualties."
