Glasgow property: Pub with 3 bedroom flat just outside city for sale for £75,000

A pub with a three-bedroom flat just outside of Glasgow has gone up for sale with an asking price of £75,000.

The Talbot Arms is located in Milngavie, which is eight miles out of the centre of Glasgow, or around 25 minutes by car. The town includes more than 150 shops, boutique fashion outlets, restaurants, pubs and essential high street businesses.

According to the listing, "properties in Milngavie and neighbouring Bearsden command some of the highest house prices in Scotland and this has led to the town’s reputation as an exclusive and aspirational residential area".

The property is found on a prominent corner site on the main thoroughfare in Milngavie, and has been a public house for 137 years.

The listing states: "Built in 1885, The Talbot Arms was originally known as the Ockle Vaults and has always been a public house. It has been a pub in Milngavie town centre enjoyed by generations, it is in fact the only ‘traditional’ pub in the local area.

"The business has been steady with the current owner for the past eight years and coming out of the pandemic still trades well. It would benefit from some modernisation should the new operator wish to increase the potential.

"It is currently wet-only however there is potential to introduce a food offering with a fitted kitchen being unused at present. Current staff have been with the business throughout the past eight years and beyond and would be more than happy to stay on with a new operator."

It continues: "The Talbot Arms is a single storey building occupying a prominent corner on the pedestrianised Main Street. The single room bar plays host for mainly locals and visitors passing through.

"A variety of seating is available from bar stool seating to individual tables and chairs. There is also outdoor seating on the street for when the weather allows.
