Glasgow city centre could soon have its first Greggs Outlet store, with plans lodged to transform a vacant unit on the Saltmarket.
Greggs Outlets sell day-old products that were unsold at other stores. The baked goods are sold cold, but are perfectly safe to eat, with many customers opting to re-heat at home.
Big savings can be made on the likes of sandwiches, scones, cakes and pasties, while broken or misshaped biscuits are also sold at discounted prices.

There are already three Greggs Outlet shops in Glasgow, in Nitshill, Maryhill and at The Forge Retail Park, however the proposed new store, just off Trongate, would represent the first of its kind in central Glasgow.
The planning application for 19 Saltmarket was published on the Glasgow City Council website this week.
The proposals seek to install plant machinery and alter the frontage at the vacant unit, which has recently been advertised as under offer by commercial property agents Graham and Sibbald.
Nineteen Saltmarket was previously occupied by Ladbrokes bookmakers.
Glasgow City Council are currently considering the application, which can be viewed in full on the council planning portal here.
When contacted for further comment, a Greggs spokesperson said: "We can confirm we're looking to open an Outlet at Saltmarket later this year and will be sure to share information in due course.”
The national bakery chain recently explained their Greggs Outlet concept as 'selling day-old food products at a big reduction, helping people to spend less on food.'
Earlier this year, a Glasgow-based customer tweeted a photo of their purchases, commenting: "Wow! Three sandwiches and four scones- £1.75 #greggs outlet!!! Bravo!"
