The Glasgow Great Scottish Run which took place earlier this month has been invalidated after an investigation proved the route was 150 metres too short.
The event, which took place over the weekend of October 1 and saw an estimated 25,000 people take part, was the first in three years after being cancelled due to the pandemic.
It was found to be due to human error, as a part of the course had not been laid out correctly in accordance with previous plans. The error had a marginal knock on to the half marathon distance but remained within tolerance and so remains valid.

Runners were sent an email this morning including apologies from the company, as well as offering a discount of 10 per cent on entry to next year's race.
Paul Foster, chief executive of the Great Run company, said: "We were recently made aware of a discrepancy with the 10k course at this year’s Great Scottish Run. Following an internal investigation, we have established it was 150m short.
"The shortfall in the distance was wholly due to human error. An area of the course was not laid out in line with the previously agreed plans.
"This error had a marginal knock on to the half marathon, but it was within tolerance and the course on the day was valid.
"We’re extremely disappointed that this happened at the 10K, on what was an incredibly positive return to the city for the Great Scottish Run following the pandemic."
Commonwealth Games champion Eilish McColgan had broken a new British record at the event, which bosses have now confirmed to also be invalidated.
He added: "This error invalidates Eilish McColgan’s European and British 10k records that were believed to have been set on the day. We have been in touch with Eilish directly to explain and to apologise.
"We will be reviewing our internal processes to ensure we cannot make this mistake again.
"We know we’ve let our customers down on this occasion. There are no excuses for this happening and we’re very sorry. We’ll be in touch with everyone who took part in the 10K offering a 10% discount on entry into the 2023 event."
One angry competitor told Glasgow Live: "I was confused when I finished and my watch said I hadn't quite ran 10k but I presumed it was my error, not the event's.
"It's not what you expect from an organised event and it's frustrating after running almost the whole distance. It must be more frustrating if you broke the European and British records on the day."
