Glasgow east end fire footage shows huge blaze as police issue advice to residents

Footage of a huge fire in a recycling centre near Celtic Park has revealed the severity of the blaze.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 5pm following reports of a blaze in the facility on Nuneaton Street.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to Glasgow Live they are in attendance with 'several fire engines' at the scene of a building fire.

Police Scotland confirmed they are assisting with traffic management and asked residents in the area to keep windows and doors closed due to the heavy smoke.

Road closures are currently in place with the A728 Clyde Gateway closed to all traffic from Dalmarnock Road to London Road.

The statement reads: "Officers are in attendance to assist with traffic management following a fire on London Road, Glasgow.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area as road closures are in place. Local residents should keep windows and doors closed due to smoke."

Glasgow City Council confirmed the closures, tweeting: "Due to a fire in Nuneaton Street, the A728 Clyde Gateway is closed to all traffic from Dalmarnock Road to London Road.

"Road users are advised to avoid this area and seek an alternate route."

The extent of any injuries is not currently known at this time.
