A multi-billion pound Glasgow City Region bid for a ‘green freeport’ on the River Clyde — where normal tax and custom rules wouldn’t apply — is set to be submitted this month.
Plans for an air, sea and rail economic zone, known as the Clyde Green Freeport, are being prepared by a public-private partnership which includes councils in Glasgow and surrounding areas.
They are working with AGS Airports’ Glasgow Airport, Peel Ports’ Clydeport and Mossend International Railfreight Park in North Lanarkshire on a bid to the Scottish and UK Governments.
