Glasgow car set on fire twice in one day as police probe Bishopbriggs ‘targeted’ attack

The same car in Bishopbriggs was set on fire twice in a matter of hours in what police are treating as a ‘targeted’ attack.

The first incident happened around 5.15pm on Saturday (May 7) and the second attempt was made around 10.55pm, both on Woodhill Road.

Officers believe the same person - dressed in dark closing and with their face covered - is responsible for both attacks.

Police Scotland is also looking into a small, light-coloured car spotted on Woodhill Road at the time of the second fire, as it had to stop and reverse to avoid driving past and the flames taking hold.

Detective Inspector Craig McPhail said: “We are appealing for the driver of this small car to come forward and speak with officers as soon as possible.

“Even if they don’t believe the information they have is significant, it could prove useful to our enquiries.

“In addition to this individual, anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 4495 of 7 May. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
