FLIGHTS have been suspended at Glasgow Airport after a plane was forced to make an "emergency landing".

Flights to and from the busy travel hub face disruption while crews work to clear the scene and safely resume operations.

It is understood that a light aircraft dipped its wing upon landing and hit the runway, according to the Scottish Sun.

Operations are expected to be back up and running by 6pm.

Flight tracking website AirNav Radar wrote on X: “Glasgow Airport is closed until 18:00 UTC after an aircraft blocked the runway following a landing incident.

“Flights to and from the airport are currently being affected as authorities work to clear the runway and resume normal operations.”

A number of flights due to take off from the airport have been hit with delays.

According to the Glasgow Airport website, Loganair flights to Campbeltown and Tiree – both scheduled to leave at 4.30pm and 4.35pm respectively – have an estimated departure time of 7pm.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We did attend an incident at Glasgow Airport.

"We were called to the scene at around 3.48pm, with two appliances sent to assist the emergency services at the scene."

A spokesperson for Glasgow Airport said: “Operations have resumed following an earlier incident involving a light aircraft at 1548 attended by emergency services.

“The airfield was reopened at 1700 and operations returned to normal.

“We thank passengers for their patience during this incident.”
