Tributes have poured in after a seven-year-old girl who died in a swimming pool incident on a Spanish holiday island was named as Grace Mary Sweeney. She lost her fight for life in hospital on June 23, two days after being pulled from a hotel pool in Majorca.
The little girl, who was from Dunfanaghy in Co Donegal, Ireland, has been described as a "beautiful angel". Her funeral was due to take place today at St Michael’s Church, Creeslough, and she will be buried afterwards in the nearby Doe Cemetery, reports the Irish Mirror.
The tragic incident happened on June 21. Lifeguards at the four-star HYB Eurocalas Hotel in the east coast resort of Calas de Mallorca carried out CPR on Grace after pulling her out of the water before she was rushed to hospital “in a critical condition”. People have written messages of support to Grace's grieving family online following her death.
