A hilariously sweet video captures the moment an eight-year-old girl became overcome with excitement after spotting the police.
Schoolgirl Lydia Smith was at Dodgshons Bakery in Wallasey, Merseyside, with her mum Kinsay Smith when several uniformed officers entered and her eyes lit up.
They then asked her if she'd like to sit in the police van and she raced outside, reports the Liverpool Echo.
After looking around the back of the riot van, Lydia sat on the front seat and the officers even let her press the emergency button, which set off the blue lights and siren.
The video, filmed by Kinsay, has since been shared across various community groups on social media and she said Lydia is "so happy she's Facebook famous".
The proud mum said her little girl has been struggling with anxiety of late but the incident "made her day".
Lydia's sister wants to be a police officer when she's older and Lydia couldn't wait to get home and show her the video and photos.
Kinsay said: "We were in Dodgshons Bakery in Wallasey and three officers came in, she was so excited to see them.
"The officer asked if she wanted to get in [the van] and she ran straight out.
"They let her in the back where there were more officers and then he let her in the front.
"They let her press the 999 button for the sirens and put the blue lights on. She is so happy she's Facebook famous."
Kinsay went on to say: "She's had a tough time of late and has some anxiety and has been struggling so this has absolutely made her day yesterday.
"Her sister wants to be a police officer so she couldn't wait to come home and show her the video and photographs."
Facebook commenters have been quick to praise the actions of the police.
One said: "Aww her little face is priceless - well done to the officers that made a little girl's day."
