Giovani Lo Celso injury: Tottenham midfielder suffers training blow ahead of Nottingham Forest trip

Tottenham will be without Giovani Lo Celso for the trip to Nottingham Forest, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed.

The midfielder joins a lengthy injury list at Spurs after suffering a "slight injury" in training, but the manager does not believe the damage is significant.

Lo Celso has impressed since deputising for James Maddison, scoring goals against both Aston Villa and Manchester City, but did not start the 4-1 thumping of Newcastle last time out.

Speaking to the club's official media channels ahead of Friday's game at the City Ground, Postecoglou said: "We've got quite a significant absence with eight on the injury table.

"Unfortunately, Gio Lo Celso will miss this week. Hopefully it's nothing too serious but, in terms of last week, we are one more down but the rest of the guys are OK.

Asked for more information on Lo Celso's injury, the manager replied: "A slight training injury, which we are still trying to work out but it's nothing serious."

Maddison and fellow first-team regular Micky van de Ven hope to be back in contention for selection in January and Postecoglou is pleased by their progress in rehabilitation.

He continued: "They are going OK. They are going through their rehab with Bentancur and Solomon and Phillips and all these other guys, so are cracking on."
