Gimme Him: One player Giants would steal from Commanders

The New York Giants (0-1) will visit the Washington Commanders (0-1) at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland this Sunday.

That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Commanders’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue.

In the past, it has been common to steal Terry McLaurin, who is arguably the most underrated wide receiver in football. However, the Giants are finally stacked at that position and if Week 1 was any indication, would McLaurin really help Big Blue anyway?

Middle linebacker Bobby Wagner is also a tempting theft. Pairing him with Bobby Okereke behind Dexter Lawrence seems like a dream. But the Giants have larger issues to address — needs, not wants.

In a first for Giants Wire, we’re going to steal a rookie quarterback with just a single NFL start under his belt. In this case, Jayden Daniels, who appeared to impress head coach Brian Daboll based on what “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants” depicted.

During one episode of the award-winning docuseries, Daboll even signed off on trading up for Daniels, which never ended up materializing.

In this fantasy scenario, the Giants would be able to reunite Daniels with his friend and former LSU teammate, wide receiver Malik Nabers, whom the team selected sixth overall back in April.

Daniels had some rookie hiccups in a Week 1 loss but also flashed at times, showing off a strong arm and his ability to change the game with his legs (88 rush yards and two touchdowns). He would replace Daniel Jones and not only be an immediate upgrade at the position but also provide a building block for the future.

What are your thoughts, Giants fans? Would you pick Jayden Daniels or would you steal an entirely different player from the Washington Commanders?
