Gigi Hadid has given an insight to how she and ex Zayn Malik co-parent their daughter Khai.
Hadid said she and the former One Direction star, who had a rocky split in 2021, have vowed to keep "the child’s happiness at the forefront”.
The model said of Khai, who is two years-old: “You have a long life alongside this person.
The 27-year-old, who revealed that she only books jobs that take her away for extended periods “when Khai is with her dad, added: “That she can be with both parents makes me very happy.”
Hadid also told The Sunday Times that Khai has inherited “little bits" of her British father’s culture.
“She’s clearly a child who was grown in my stomach eating a lot of British food – breakfast, beans, curries – and she still eats like that," she revealed.
“She even says some words with a little [English] accent, which I love.”
However, despite her adoration of her daughter, becoming a mother was not a top goal or priority. She said: “Having Khai at the time that I did was a blessing. I’m so glad to be a young mum.
“I always wanted to be a mum, but I was never obsessive about it or [thought that] I was put on this earth to be a mum.”
Hadid and Malik dated on and off for about five years, splitting just over a year after welcoming their daughter on September 23, 2020.
The pair had an acrimonious moment shortly after when Hadid’s mother, former model Yolanda Hadid accused Malik of "grabbing and shoving her into a dresser, causing mental anguish and physical pain.”
However, the singer denied the allegations.
Since his and Hadid’s break-up, they have kept their dating life a secret. However, Hadid was recently romantically linked to actor Leonardo DiCaprio, 48.
The pair was spotted at a NYFW after-party in September 2022. A source later told Page Six that they went their separate ways because their lifestyles didn’t gel.
“Gigi doesn’t have the energy to run after DiCaprio,” the source said in December. “His routine is too much for her.”
