The New York Giants (1-4) travel to Western New York to face the Buffalo Bills (3-2) on Sunday Night Football.
Here are five storylines for you to follow heading into the game.
Daniel Jones is OUT
Daniel Jones has been ruled out by the Giants for this game with a neck injury he suffered last week in Miami. Tyrod Taylor will draw the start against the Bills.
Taylor, 34, is a 13-year veteran who has started 53 games in his NFL career — 29 for Buffalo from 2015-16.
This will be his first start as a Giant. Taylor is only the second African-American to start a game at quarterback for the Giants in their 99-year history. The first was Geno Smith back in 2017.
Offensive line is still banged up
Taylor won’t be walking into a very good situation this week as the Giants’ offensive line will be missing left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring), center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder), and swing tackle Matt Peart (shoulder), who’ve all been ruled out for Sunday night.
In addition to those injuries, right tackle Evan Neal (ankle) and guard Shane Lemieux (groin) are both questionable.
The Bills lead the NFL in sacks (21) and the Giants lead the league in sacks allowed per game (6.0).
Saquon or no Saquon?
Star running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) hasn’t played since Week 2 when he was injured late in the comeback win against the Cardinals in Arizona.
Barkley practiced on a limited basis this week but is still listed as questionable for the game.
Head coach Brian Daboll and Barkley himself said this week they were still taking things day-by-day, but it appears he will likely be out again this week.
Slaughter sides
When we were kids and chasing up sides, sometimes they didn’t come out very evenly matched. We called them ‘slaughter sides.’
That’s what we have this week in Buffalo. The Bills are more talented than the Giants to start with. Then, when you take away 10 starters from the Giants, things become even more unbalanced.
The oddsmakers ran out of chalk marking up the line on this game this week. The line opened at Buffalo -10.5 and has jumped to 14.5 points.
On some wagering sites and in several casinos, the line is as high as 16 points as of Saturday morning.
Ojulari out, Waller questionable
Outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari (ankle) will miss yet another game due to injury. He missed two games earlier this year due to injury and is now shelved again.
Since being drafted in the second round out of Georgia back in 2021, Ojulari has played in just 27 of 39 possible games for the Giants.
Tight end Darren Waller (groin) was limited all week and is questionable for Sunday night.
Waller leads the Giants in targets this season with 34. He has 23 receptions for 239 yards and no touchdowns.
