The New York Giants have a tough road ahead of them in 2024 with Brian Daboll likely on the hot seat if things don’t go well.
Many adjustments have already been made and more will come as players adapt to playing together. One Giants player in particular is poised to have a breakout season, though.
Recently, CBS Sports released its NFL All-Breakout Team. This includes players still on their rookie contract that could take the next step in 2024.
For their defensive backs, Giants’ cornerback Cor’Dale Flott was included on the breakout team, along with Christian Gonzales (New England Patriots) and Derek Stingley Jr. (Houston Texans).
Flott would have been a member of my better than team coming into the draft had I written one, so there is some bias at play here. The reality is that a slot cornerback was needed for this team and the honorable mention cornerbacks and safety profiled more in other roles. Flott is worth a flier as he takes on an expanded role.
The Giants have a young secondary this year, Flott included. Over his two seasons in New York, he has recorded 62 tackles (40 solo), one forced fumble, one interception, and five passes defensed.
Flott has two seasons and 25 games under his belt now, though, and he’s not the youngest player in the locker room anymore.
Expectations around Flott’s production will be up this year, and if all goes well, he will have his breakout season and cement the foundation for the rest of his career. The Giants certainly need him, and every player, to be at the top of their game this season.
