Giants’ Brian Daboll Won’t Commit to Daniel Jones’s Return From Injury This Season

The Giants ruled Daniel Jones out for Sunday’s game against the Jets on Friday, marking the third consecutive game that Jones will miss due to injury. New York remains vague about when Jones will return, as the injury does not appear to be healing quickly.

Giants coach Brian Daboll said Jones is still trying to recover from a neck injury suffered in a game against the Dolphins on Oct. 8.

“He’s getting better,” Daboll said. “We’ll see where he is next week.”

When subsequently asked for clarity on whether Jones would be able to return to action this season, Daboll declined to make a prediction.

“I don’t have a crystal ball with injuries,” he said.

Jones injured his neck in Week 5 and hasn’t returned to practice since. Jones recorded just two touchdown passes and six interceptions with a 1-4 record in his five games this season before getting injured.

Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor has filled in for Jones the past two weeks, going 1-1 with two touchdowns and no interceptions in his two starts.

Regardless, New York likely will be careful with Jones, its franchise quarterback who signed a four-year contract in the offseason.
