West Ham United manager David Moyes has provided an injury update on striker Gianluca Scamacca and Nayef Aguerd ahead of Friday’s clash with Brentford.
Both were absent on Boxing Day for the Hammers ’ 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, with Scamacca missing with an ankle issue and Aguerd still overcoming a virus suffered while on duty with Morocco at the 2022 World Cup.
Speaking on the duo ahead of Friday’s home clash with Brentford, Moyes has said that Scamacca and Aguerd have outside chances of featuring, but admits he has tough calls to make on both.

“Gianluca has done a little bit of training, so we will see how he is,” said Moyes. Probably lacking a bit of match practice and match fitness, that would be my biggest worry but he’s done a bit of training so hopefully he will be okay.
“Nayef is still sort of coming back from illness which we’re still trying to get him over. He’s had a few days training which has helped but obviously he’s lost a bit of weight from the World Cup, so we’re trying to build him back up.
“If I can get him involved, I will. I will make a decision tomorrow but if you’re asking me is he ready, I don’t believe he’s quite ready yet, no.”
Centre-back Kurt Zouma will also miss the game having undergone knee surgery during the mid-season break last month.
