With their mix of Southern rock, blues and Americana, Pittsburgh’s Ghost Hounds have been steadily ramping up anticipation for their fourth album, First Last Time, which is out today via Gibson Records, and available everywhere worldwide here.
The 10-track album features singles “Last Train To Nowhere,” “Make It Shake,” and “Dirty Angel,” which have received praise from American Songwriter, SPIN, Consequence, and more. Along with the release of the album, the band has now premiered a stunningly cinematic official music video for “Last Train To Nowhere” - watch the video HERE.
The explosive album opener “Last Train to Nowhere” - which is currently Top Five on the iTunes Rock charts in the U.S. and U.K. - announces itself via a dusty, down-home acoustic guitar pattern. The song builds in intensity via the introduction of bass, drums, fiddle and keyboards - not to mention white-hot electric guitar riffs - before erupting into an impassioned chorus and a fiery, climactic guitar solo. And it’s all capped by the powerful and soul-stirring vocals of lead singer Tré Nation, who relates the story of a man confronting the fact that he lacks purpose, a legacy and a moral compass.
Speaking of “Last Train to Nowhere,” Ghost Hounds guitarist and songwriter Thomas Tull says, “That’s one of my favorite songs that I've ever written. I wrote it on an acoustic, and the music just came together.”
From upbeat barn-burner “Make It Shake” to the soulful ballad “Here No More,” this album takes listeners through the whole gamut of emotions. First Last Time also includes two covers - a country-fied rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Hot Dog” and John Denver’s iconic track, “Country Roads.” First Last Time seamlessly blends blues, rock, and country to create a dynamic sound that highlights the group’s musical prowess. Full of profound lyricism, powerhouse vocals, and showstopping melodies, First Last Time is an absolute triumph.
Ghost Hounds’ massive sound has led the group from stages to stadiums with everyone from the Rolling Stones and ZZ Top, to Garth Brooks and Bob Seger, and more. Catch them when they come to your town and grab a copy of Ghost Hounds' new album First Last Time, out now on Gibson Records here.
