It’s likely to be a feisty affair this afternoon as Ghana and Uruguay face each other in a crucial World Cup clash, 12 years on from their infamous quarter-final in South Africa.
That day it was Uruguay who went through to the last four, after Luis Suarez’s handball on the line deep into extra-time was followed by a missed penalty from Asamoah Gyan.

In the build-up to this Group H encounter in Qatar, a Ghanaian journalist told Suarez he was viewed as “the devil himself”, to which the 35-year-old refused to apologise for his intervention.
A win for Ghana will send them through to the last-16, while a point would be enough too if South Korea fail to beat Portugal. Uruguay have to win to keep their hopes alive, and also hope that South Korea slip-up.
