The Georgia Bulldogs may not be too excited that ESPN’s “College GameDay” is headed to Atlanta, Georgia, for the SEC championship game. Yes, Georgia is glad to be back in the SEC championship, but the Bulldogs have a bit of a curse when GameDay attends the SEC title game.
Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia have played in four consecutive SEC championships and seven of the last eight. Georgia is 2-4 during the Kirby Smart era in SEC championships, but the Bulldogs are 0-4 when GameDay is in town for the SEC title game in the Smart era. UGA is 2-0 in SEC championships without GameDay since 2016.
Georgia’s record gets even worse when looking back further. The Bulldogs are 0-7 all time when GameDay attends the SEC championship and 4-0 when GameDay is elsewhere.
