The Georgia Bulldogs lost another transfer target to the Florida Gators.
Quarterback DeShawn Purdie committed to transfer from Charlotte to Florida. Georgia offered Purdie, but this is the second time the Bulldogs missed on a quarterback target who transferred to another SEC program.
Purdie was one of the many quarterback targets for the Bulldogs. At Charlotte, he completed 100 passes for 1,802 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has negative yards rushing, so he isn’t a mobile quarterback, but he showed some flashes for the Charlotte 49ers. He could’ve been an interesting prospect for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Instead, he’ll join a Florida Gators team that already persuaded J. Michael Sturdivant, another Georgia transfer target, to commit. Purdie will have time to season behind incumbent starter DJ Lagway.
Georgia plays Florida in Week 10 of the 2025 college football season. It’ll be another classic match of the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.
Georgia could land Fernando Mendoza, but the Bulldogs haven’t met with any other quarterback currently in the transfer portal. Then again, with Carson Beck potentially staying another season due to his injury, Georgia might not need to.
