Genshin Impact Collei guide: weapons, artifacts, teams

Game version 3.0 of Genshin Impact has finally brought the Sumeru region and the Dendro element into the game. Also included in the update are new characters, including the first 4-star Dendro character Collei. The young lady has a tragic past behind her, but she looks to the future with hope.

During update 3.0, you’ll have the chance to recruit Collei into your squad for free as part of the Graven Innocence event, where she can do strong work for you as a sub DPS character. This Collei build guide will show you the perfect equipment for the job in Genshin Impact 3.0.

Genshin Impact Collei: Best weapons

While Tighnari, Collei’s teacher as a Ranger, is a strong main DPS character, Collei shines more as a sub or off-field DPS character. Optimally, she’s only active on the field for short periods of time to use her abilities to enable more Dendro reactions for the main DPS.

Therefore, this build focuses on increasing her Elemental Mastery and boosting her ability damage. The 5-star Bow Elegy For The End is an excellent choice in this regard. It boosts Collei’s Energy Recharge, provides her with another 60 Elemental Mastery, and creates an effect on hits with abilities that gives all troop members a hefty bonus to Elemental Mastery and Attack.

Alternatively, keep the following weapons in mind for Collei:

  • Polar Star (5-star bow) – increases Attack and ability damage.
  • The Stringless (4-star bow) – increases Elemental Mastery and ability damage.
  • Windblume Ode (4-star bow) – increases Attack after ability use.

Genshin Impact Collei: Best artifacts

When it comes to artifacts, you are faced with an interesting choice that has a lot to do with the team composition you want to play Collei in.

The first option is called Deepwood Memories and is a fellow new addition from update 3.0. This set increases the user’s Dendro damage and lowers the Dendro resistance of enemies. If you are playing Collei as a sub DPS in a squad that includes Tighnari as the main DPS, it might be especially worthwhile to equip Collei with Deepwood Memories. This would leave Tighnari free to pick up another set instead of bringing Deepwood himself.

While Deepwood is always worthwhile to maximize Collei’s damage, you should consider other options if another Dendro figure is not in the mix. These alternatives are Gilded Dreams for maximizing Elemental Mastery, Emblem of Severed Fate for higher Energy Recharge and more ability damage, or Noblesse Oblige for more ability damage and additional Attack for all troop members.

Pay attention to the following distribution for stats:

  • Plume: Attack (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Elemental Mastery, Attack % (sub stats).
  • Flower: HP (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Elemental Mastery, Attack % (sub stats).
  • Sands: Elemental Mastery/Energy Recharge (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Elemental Mastery/Energy Recharge, Attack % (sub stats).
  • Goblet: Dendro Damage % (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Elemental Mastery, Attack % (sub stats).
  • Circlet: Critical Damage (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Elemental Mastery, Attack % (sub stats).

How do you play Collei?

Collei appears at the beginning of a standard rotation along with other sub and off-field DPS characters to prepare the field for the arrival of the main DPS.

On Collei’s turn, you first use her special ability, her boomerang. This causes Dendro damage and generates energy. It also follows you around and hits enemies multiple times as a result, so feel free to place yourself within melee range to maximize hits. After that, fire off Collei’s Elemental Burst, which covers an area with Dendro power.

Then immediately switch to your team’s main DPS and exploit the Dendro field for more devastating reactions. After that, it’s Collei and friends’ turn again.

Genshin Impact Collei: Best teams

With which teams does the described sequence work out best? You have quite a lush selection there, as the following examples show:

  • Tighnari (Main DPS), Collei (Sub DPS), Fischl (Off-Field DPS), Kuki Shinobu (Support).
  • Yoimiya (Main DPS), Collei (Sub DPS), Kokomi (Support), Yun Jin (Support)
  • Ayato (Main DPS), Collei (Sub DPS), Bennett (Support), Yun Jin (Support)

In all of these teams, Collei provides important support services with her Dendro skills to create more reaction opportunities for the main DPS. In the case of Tighnari, as mentioned above, she can also improve damage output as the bearer of an important artifact. In any case, you should combine Collei with characters whose elements can react with Dendro – that is Hydro, Pyro, and Electro.
