The NFC West just got a lot more interesting on Sunday. First, the Los Angeles Rams beat the New England Patriots to improve to 5-5, putting them only one game back of the Arizona Cardinals for the division lead.
Then, Geno Smith delivered a game-winning drive that the Rams will certainly appreciate. With the 4-5 Seahawks trailing the 5-4 49ers by a score of 17-13 in the fourth quarter, Smith led an 80-yard drive in 11 plays and only 2:26, giving the Seahawks a lead with 12 seconds left.
He ran it in himself from 12 yards out, snatching a win away from the 49ers. With that, the Rams are now second in the NFC West, holding the tiebreaker over both the Seahawks and 49ers thanks to their head-to-head wins over each team.

Here’s how the standings look as of now with the Cardinals off in Week 11
- Cardinals: 6-4 (2-0 division)
- Rams: 5-5 (2-1)
- Seahawks: 5-5 (1-2)
- 49ers: 5-5 (1-3)
That’s right, the 49ers are now dead last in the division, even after getting Christian McCaffrey back from injury. The Rams aren’t sure to make the playoffs, of course, but that loss by the 49ers definitely helped their cause.
Now only the Cardinals stand in their way. If Los Angeles can run the table and win out, it will have the inside track to the NFC West title.
