Gemma Collins recalls 'being poor' in throwback pics with her brother

Gemma Collins treated fans to a blast from the past as she shared a series of childhood pictures.

The TOWIE star marked her brother, Russ', birthday with a number of sweet throwback pictures showing them both in their younger days. The children were worlds apart from where Gemma is today as she shared an anecdote remembering how poor they were growing up.

The reality TV star is reportedly worth a staggering £2.7million now, according to a number of reports. The 41-year-old accumulated her earnings from a number of TV roles, with her main being her six-year stint on The Only Way is Essex, from 2011 to 2017.

Captioning her Instagram post, she wrote: "Happy birthday to my wonderful brother. May you continue to grow …

"Remember we was so poor we didn’t have a toaster we would get the bread on a fork and do it on the gas fire. It’s a different story now."

She added: "Was so glad to share all these moments with you. Love you. Lol now I have a Dolce and Gabbana toaster but I’m scared to use it he he x".

Fans were overjoyed at how far she had come in life and shared their comments. James said: "Love it Gemma Collins. I think that’s a fab story. A D and G toaster class. It’s great to see normal people smash life. Well done and carry on enjoying your life."

Lawz said: "I remember toasting bread on a three bar electric fire...tasted extra spesh!!! Never forget your roots."

Meanwhile, Inas said: "Bless, you're a joy. Never forget where you came from x".
