Gemma Atkinson has shared how it is a 'big day' in her household as she prepares for the arrival of her new bundle of joy. The Hits Radio host announced back in January that she was pregnant with her second child with fiance Gorka Marquez.
Gemma and the Strictly Come Dancing star, who met when she was a contestant on the BBC One dance contest in 2017, revealed the news alongside a string of black and white snaps which included a selfie with their three-year-old daughter, Mia.
Since then, Gemma, 38, has been keeping her loyal social media followers updated on her pregnancy while Gorka, 32, is back and forth between home and being on tour with Strictly co-star Karen Hauer in Firedance.
And taking to Instagram on Tuesday (March 21), Gemma shared how the couple are planning a change to their Greater Manchester abode ahead of their son's arrival. Talking to the camera in one of their empty bedrooms, the pregnant star said: "Big day today... Mia's moving into her big bedroom."
She then explained: "Well, she's not moving into it today but we're decorating it today because I want to get her into her big room before little man comes. Obviously, he'll be in our room for a little bit but then he'll go in her room and I don't want her to think she's been turfed out."
Gemma revealed how she reached out to a businesswoman on Instagram who paints murals meaning Mia is going to have a spectacular display in her grown-up bedroom. The former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star also shared that she'd consulted her little girl on what she wanted for her new room.
"I asked Mia what she wanted and she wants a forest with unicorns and fairies and I think she said a rainbow as well," Gemma shared. "We just said to her whatever you want, you can have and Nicola's going to let her put some glitter on the wall so she'll feel like she's done it as well.
"But it's funny because Gorka likes everything matching and neat whereas I'm like, it's your room do what you want. And he's like, 'No, it won't go!' And I'm like, 'Come on!' So it'll be interesting to see the end result.
"Half of it will be tidy... One side will be the side Gorka's done and the other will be what me and Mia's done. It'll be manic. But we just want her to feel like it's her room because it's a big room for her." Appearing slightly emotional, Gemma added: "Time flies."
It comes after Gemma was left laughing at Gorka when the dancer returned home to his daughter trying to climb into bed with them. Gorka had driven through the night to get back to his family in between shows but was woken up by Mia's arrival into their room.
"Gorka's back home so last night Mia tried it on, didn't she," Gemma said in a video on her Instagram Story on Monday (March 20). "Because he drove home in the night about quarter to four she came in our room and I went, 'What? What's the matter?' and she wanted to get in our bed and I said, 'No, no this ain't happening.'
"So I frog marched her back to her room and to be fair she did get back into her own bed, bless her but then she was a little bit whingey and then Gorka came in..."
Laughing, Gemma then turned to her partner off camera and said: "You still had your eyes shut," before turning back to the camera. She went on: "He stood at the door and went, 'Mia, I drove all the way home to see you. I'm very tired. Please sleep princess and in the morning we can play.'
"But she did... SO I thought with me, why do I have to ask you four times but when dad's home, he asks you once and you do it. Little swine." Gemma then jokingly typed alongside the video with a crying laughing emoji: "The cheek of it."
