Gary Neville delivered a brutal mid-game blast of his former club after Manchester United put in an “embarrassing” performance to be thumped 4-1 by fierce rivals Manchester City.
The Red Devils were dreadful in the second-half and looked a totally different side to the one that had put in a spirited performance before the break.
City had 14 goal attempts in the second period alone, with United having zero in the same timespan as Pep Guardiola ’s men totally dominated their opponents at the Etihad Stadium.
Two goals from Kevin de Bruyne in the first half had put City ahead, with Jadon Sancho scoring an equaliser in between the Belgian’s strikes.
And they took total control after half-time, with Riyad Mahrez scoring twice to hand City a comfortable win.

United’s performance in that second-half was appalling, with one 15-minute spell seeing the Red Devils have just eight per cent of the possession.
Neither of Rangnick’s substitutes made an impact, with Ederson’s goal never under threat as City surged forward.
In fact, the Expected Goals ratios for both sides provided clear evidence of City’s total dominance, with the hosts having a ratio of 2.33 xG and United having a paltry 0.58 xG.
United’s dreadful display left Neville fuming during his commentary for Sky Sports and the right-back did not hold back.
He frequently delivered brutal blasts of his former club and admitted that he felt embarrassed by their failure to turn up.
“Manchester United's response to going 3-1 down has been embarrassing,” Neville said.
“92 per cent possession for City? They have given up. They are walking around the pitch. It's nowhere near good enough."
“The scoreline isn’t the problem. It’s the response to going 3-1 down that’s the problem. They [Manchester United] have thrown the towel in.”
“City have played brilliantly in this second half. But the effort and intensity from United in the last 20 minutes has been non-existent.
“There can be no complaints. City have been absolutely outstanding. But as a Manchester United fan, it's embarrassing.
"Manchester City were outstanding, particularly in the second-half. But at the end of the game, Manchester United finished like an absolute shower. They were a disgrace in the last 25 minutes.
"It's the first time Ralf Rangnick has taken them against a proper team and they have been given a proper doing."
The thumping leaves United 22 points adrift of league leaders City and is a hammer blow to their hopes of claiming a top four place.
They are on point behind Arsenal, having played three games more than their rivals for a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Sunday’s dreadful display offered no evidence that United have what it takes to compete at the top level.
Neville’s former team-mate Roy Keane was also left angered by United’s performance, with the Irishman blasting their defending for City’s two first-half goals.
“It’s sloppy, too casual at the back (on De Bruyne’s second goal), Wan-Bissaka not going to win the header, Elanga too casual,” Keane told Sky Sports
“It’s frustrating because United have done some decent stuff, but the concentration and intensity for the two goals has not been good enough.”
