Gary Neville responds to Cristiano Ronaldo criticism as Manchester United revelations continue

Gary Neville appears to have responded to Cristiano Ronaldo's criticism of him.

The former Manchester United right-back, and team-mate of Ronaldo's, is among the latest high-profile names to have been targeted by Ronaldo in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Along with insulting Erik ten Hag, the club hierarchy, owners the Glazers and Wayne Rooney, among many others, Neville was also in Ronaldo's firing line in an interview which will be broadcast in full across Wednesday and Thursday.

Ronaldo believes Neville criticises him to boost his pundit profile and become "more famous". He told Morgan: "It's hard to listen to that kind of criticism and negativity about people who play with you. For example, Gary Neville, as well. They are not my friends.

"It's easy to criticise. I don't know if you have a job in television that they must criticise to be more famous, I really don't understand.

"I think they take advantage of [my profile] because they are not stupid. It's hard when you see people who were in the dressing room with you criticising that way."

Taking to Twitter this morning, Neville simply tweeted: "Anyone for dinner?"

Neville's tweet comes after Ronaldo's Portugal team-mate Bruno Fernandes appeared to give the forward a frosty reception at their national team's World Cup base.
