Manchester United icon Gary Neville has been proven right two months after claiming Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave Arsenal in January.
The Gabon international was dropped from the starting XI before the Gunners travelled to Goodison Park to face Everton back in December and Neville thought it was a strange call considering he was the club captain at the time.
"There's always a little bit of a bug between Arteta and Aubameyang, I know he's the captain but he leaves him out and it feels like something a bit awkward," the former United defender said after the 2-1 loss to the Toffees.
"It's going to cause a problem and I bet if he could get a bit of money for him and get someone else they would.
"And I bet if Aubameyang could he would move on as well because it could turn a little sour."
Aubameyang was stripped of his captaincy duties days later after a disciplinary breach that eventually saw him dropped from Mikel Arteta's matchday squad in every game after the aforementioned loss on Merseyside.
football.london revealed in December that the north Londoners were open to selling the 32-year-old in the winter window before Saudi side Al-Nassr failed to tempt him to leave the Emirates Stadium as the player wanted to stay in Europe.
Eventually, the former Borussia Dortmund star left the club by mutual consent on deadline day before joining La Liga giants Barcelona until the summer of 2025.
Speaking upon his arrival at the Nou Camp, Aubameyang said: "My main goal is to help the team and give everything I can to bring the team back in the Champions League and stuff like that.
"So I'm just happy to be here and I will try to give everything."
