Gary Neville doubles down on Oleksandr Zinchenko Arsenal leadership claim after being called out

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has doubled down on his thoughts on the leadership qualities of Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Gunners brought in versatile fullback Zinchenko from Manchester City during last summer's transfer window and he has hit the ground running in north London, becoming one of Mikel Arteta's most important players. Arsenal supporters have taken to the 26-year-old, who has been seen galvanising teammates on several occasions this season, often leading on-field team talks in big games.

However, Sky Sports pundit wasn't convinced that the Ukraine captain is a true leader when speaking last year. "I love him [Zinchenko] to bits but he's not a leader", the former England right-back said.

"Alright, okay [he's the captain of Ukraine] but he's not a leader." He added: "In a difficult moment this season, is he going to put it all together?"

Now, Neville has doubled down on his take following Arsenal's 1-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park last weekend. "I saw him at Everton on Saturday, he's not a leader", he told The Overlap.

"He's a great professional, he's not a leader." Zinchenko will take on his former side City next Wednesday night in a crucial clash that could go a long way in deciding who wins the Premier League title this season, with the Gunners currently five points clear of Pep Guardiola's men, who have also played one more league match this term.
