Gary Lineker makes Trent Alexander-Arnold point after Liverpool win over West Ham

Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after the 2-1 win over West Ham United at the London Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Match of the Day host labelled the 24-year-old as the "best passer in England" after he continued to excel in his inverted full-back role in Jurgen Klopp's side.

Alexander-Arnold assisted Liverpool's equaliser, brilliantly scored by Cody Gakpo, equalised before Joel Matip powered a header into the Hammers goal in the second half to settle the contest.

And former Everton and England striker Lineker spoke about Alexander-Arnold on Match of the Day after the win over David Moyes' side.

Lineker said “He’s the best passer in English football. He’s gradually drifted in the position he was born to play and that he played for most of his childhood.”

The victory over West Ham took Liverpool's winning streak to three games as they moved up to sixth and within six points of Newcastle United and Manchester United in third and fourth respectively.

Alexander-Arnold's form has been key to their resurgence. He has now recorded five assists since being deployed in his new role and he looks rejuvenated after being subject to criticism at times this season.
